Epiphytic Cyanoprokaryotes Diversity on Great Banyan Tree (Ficus bengalensis L.) of Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, Howrah

Abstract
Great Banyan Tree (GBT) is a living legend of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, Howrah W.B. It is one of the star attraction not only for Indian visitor’s but also for foreign delegates. Great Banyan Tree (GBT) known as Ficus bengalensis L. belongs to family Moraceae. This Great Banyan tree is showing vide range of biodiversity. During study 09 epiphytic cyanoprokaryotes species were recorded from Great Banyan tree. It is very interesting to observe that out of 09 species of epiphytic cyanoprokaryotes, two species Chlorogloea gentilis Skuja and Gloeocapsa novacekii Komárek and Anagn. recorded as new to the science of India. Scytonema ocellatum Lyngbye ex Bornet and Flahault commonly observed on Great Banyan tree.
